Converting G0555 Band Saw to 220 Volts
Note: Always prioritize safety and follow the specific instructions provided in your owner's manual.
Safety First
- Always unplug the machine before making any modifications.
Preparation
- Gather materials: Prepare a new 220-volt plug, wire nuts, and a wire stripper.
Disassembly
- Unplug the machine: Disconnect the band saw from the 110-volt power supply.
- Remove old plug: Cut off the existing 110-volt plug.
- Access wiring: Open the wire box cover to expose the wires.
Rewiring
- Disconnect wires: Remove the existing wire nuts, but leave the ground wire connected.
- Connect motor wires: Connect the black and yellow motor wires together using a wire nut.
- Connect power wires: Connect the red motor wire and white power wire together using another wire nut.
- Connect remaining wires: Connect the white motor wire and a black power wire together using the third wire nut.
- Replace cover: Close the wire box cover.
Install New Plug
- Prepare wires: Strip the insulation from the ends of the power cord wires.
- Connect wires: Connect the black and white wires to the flat terminals of the new 220-volt plug, and the green wire to the ground terminal.
- Secure connections: Tighten all screws on the plug to ensure secure connections.
Reassembly
- Test operation: Once the conversion is complete, test the band saw with the new 220-volt power supply.
