How to Tension a G0555 Series Bandsaw Blade Using the Deflection Method
Understanding Overtensioning
- Overtensioning can cause damage to the upper hinge assembly, premature tire wear, and blade breakage.
- It can also affect blade tracking during operation.
Tensioning Steps:
- Install Blade: Place the desired blade on the bandsaw wheels.
- Engage Tension Lever: Pull down the tension lever to apply initial tension to the blade.
- Center the Blade: Spin the upper wheel and adjust the blade position until it's centered on the wheel.
- Check Blade Deflection: Apply moderate pressure to the center of the blade and measure the deflection. The ideal deflection is approximately 1/4 inch.
- Adjust Tension: If the deflection is incorrect, adjust the tension knob accordingly. Increase tension for less deflection, decrease for more deflection.
- Retest: Recheck the blade deflection to ensure it's within the desired range.
Remember: Proper blade tension is crucial for optimal performance and safety. Avoid overtensioning the blade to prevent damage to the machine and the blade itself.
Note: Always refer to your machine's manual for specific instructions and safety precautions.
