Assembly Steps for Grizzly G0449/G0450 Drum Sander:
Before Assembly:
- Review Safety Precautions: Ensure you understand the safety instructions in the user manual.
- Inventory Parts: Verify all parts are present according to the packing list.
- Plan Placement: Choose a location considering machine size, workpiece length, and access to power (60-amp, 240-volt circuit required).
Assembly:
- Top Cover (with Assistant):
- Remove 6 cap screws already in place for the top cover.
- Place the cover on the sander and connect it to the hinges.
- Install gas struts and tighten jam nuts.
- Close the top cover.
- Pulley Cover:
- Remove lock knobs from the pulley cover.
- Rotate the V-belt down and check for scraping sounds (adjust dust housings if needed).
- Control Panel (with Assistant):
- Remove hardware from the control panel support arm.
- Lift the control panel into place and connect the support brace.
- Handwheel:
- Connect the handwheel.
- Machine Placement:
- Carefully remove the machine from the pallet and position it.
