What's the maximum diameter cutter that I can put on this machine?
The spindle will accept a 5-1/2" diameter cutter. For safety and quality of cut, we recommend taking several passes.
Is a taller spindle available for taller cutters?
Yes, we offer the G2910 4" spindle, which will accept a 3" tall shaper cutter.
Is a 1-1/4" spindle available for this machine?
No. For cutters with a 1-1/4" bore, you must use two T-bushings to reduce the size down to 1".
Is a router bit spindle available for this machine?
Yes, the G1794 router bit spindle is used in place of the shaper cutter spindles and will hold 1/4" and 1/2" shank router bits.
Will your optional G4839 dust hood fit my older Model G1026 shaper?
Yes. All you need to do is drill and tap four holes for the bolts.
Is this machine big enough to handle the 1 HP Power Feeder?
Yes. However, due to the size and weight of the power feeder, we recommend drilling holes in the table and fastening the power feeder with nuts, washers, and through bolts. Drilling and tapping holes may not hold up to the forces created by the power feeder. We also strongly recommend that the shaper be bolted to the floor for stability.
How is the spindle held in place?
The spindle is secured with a threaded draw bar that runs through the drive spindle.
How do I know how fast to run my cutters?
Operating speed is determined by the relative diameter of the cutter and the hardness of the wood. Smaller diameter cutters and/or softer wood will allow faster speeds, while larger diameter cutters and harder woods will require slower speeds.
What if I need to replace the V-belt in a hurry? Is the V-belt available locally?
