Can I run moulding knives in my G5850 Planer?
No. The G5850 does not support moulding knives. There is not enough clearance around the cutterhead, and the infeed roller does not have sufficient adjustment.
What type of feed rollers does it have?
- Infeed roller: Steel segmented
- Outfeed roller: Solid smooth steel
What size circuit breaker do I need to operate this planer?
A 30 Amp circuit breaker is recommended.
How can I connect the 5" dust port to my 4" dust collection hose?
We recommend using a 5" hose directly from the planer to your dust collector for optimal performance.
If you need to reduce down to a 4" hose:
- Use a 5" to 4" stovepipe reducer, available at most hardware stores
- Then connect your 4" hose to the dust collector
What are the CFM requirements for dust collection?
CFM requirements depend on several variables, including:
- Distance to the dust collector
- Moisture content of the wood
- Depth of cut
For runs 10 feet or less, a dust collector with as little as 450 CFM may work. However, when sizing a dust collector, bigger is always better for performance.
How are the planer knives adjusted?
The knives are adjusted using jackscrews.
However, adjustment springs are also included for those who prefer that method.
How many knives are in the cutterhead?
The cutterhead contains three knives.
What is the feed rate of this planer?
The feed rate is 24 feet per minute.
