Can I run moulding knives in my G1033 Planer?
No. There isn't enough clearance around the cutterhead, nor is there enough adjustment in the infeed roller to accommodate moulding knives.
What type of oil should I use in the gearbox?
Use 90-weight gear oil. In unheated winter workshops, switch to 50-weight motor oil, and change back to 90-weight in the summer.
What type of feed rollers does it have?
- Infeed roller: Solid steel with spiral serrations
- Outfeed roller: Solid smooth steel roller
Is there a larger motor available for my G1033?
Yes, you can upgrade to the G5015 – 5 HP motor.
What size breaker do I need to operate this planer?
You will need a 30 Amp circuit breaker.
Where can I get a reducer to go from the 5" dust port on the machine to my 4" hose?
We recommend running a 5" hose from the planer to your dust collector. If you need to reduce to a 4" hose due to your dust collector's 4" inlet, you can use a 5" to 4" stovepipe reducer, available at most hardware stores.
What are the CFM requirements for a dust collector?
The answer depends on factors like the distance to the collector, moisture content of the wood, and the depth of cut. For setups within 10 feet, a dust collector with at least 450 CFM might suffice. However, for optimal performance, larger is better when sizing a dust collector.
