The G0403 CNC Router uses both a motion controller and a DSP controller, each with its own firmware. These can be updated independently to restore DSP-J2 system functions or to enhance existing performance features.

Updating the Motion Controller Firmware
Step 1: Download Firmware
Download the following firmware file:
XHC-COMCNCTransfer the downloaded file to the USB flash drive.
Step 2: Power On System
Turn the control box and DSP controller ON.

Allow approximately 10 seconds for the DSP controller to complete its boot sequence.
Once finished, the coordinate screen will appear.
Step 3: Open File Screen
Use the menu navigation keys to go to the File screen.
Step 4: Insert USB Drive
Insert the USB flash drive containing the firmware file into the USB port on top of the DSP controller.
Step 5: Access USB Contents
Navigate to the “U disk” soft key and press Enter.
Select the “Open” soft key and press Enter to view files on the USB drive.
Locate the previously downloaded file (starts with XHC-COMCNC), press Enter, then select “Copy” and press Enter to copy the file.
Step 6: Return to File Screen
Navigate to the Back soft key and press Enter until you return to the File screen.
Step 7: Open Local Storage
Select the “local” soft key (see Figure 85) and press Enter.
Choose the “Open” soft key and press Enter to access local storage.
Step 8: Delete Old Firmware
Navigate to the “cnc_src” folder, press Enter, then select “Open” to enter the folder.
Find XHC-COMCNC-(Version/Date).bin, press Enter, and select “Delete” → Enter to remove the old firmware file.
Step 9: Load New Firmware
Navigate back using the soft key → Enter.
Re-enter the “cnc_src” folder → Enter.
Select the “Paste” soft key → Enter to load the updated firmware file into local storage.
Step 10: Update Firmware
Navigate to the Param screen.

Scroll down to “cnc_update” and press Enter.
The firmware update progress will display as a percentage on-screen.
NOTICE:
The update process may take several minutes. Do not disconnect power during this time, as doing so can cause file system corruption.
When progress reaches 100%, turn the DSP controller and control box OFF.
Step 11: Verify Update
Proceed to the Test Run section (Page 26 of the manual) to confirm system integrity with the updated firmware.
Updating the DSP Controller Firmware
Step 1: Download Firmware
Download the following firmware file:
XHC-SPJ2Transfer the file to the USB flash drive.
Step 2: Prepare for Update
Perform Steps 2–5 from the Motion Controller Update section above to:
Power on the control box and DSP controller
Access the File screen
Insert the USB drive and open its contents
Step 3: Copy Firmware File
Locate the previously downloaded file (starts with XHC-SPJ2) on the USB drive.
Press Enter, select “Copy”, and press Enter again.
Step 4: Return to File Screen
Use the Back soft key → Enter until you reach the File screen.
Step 5: Open Local Storage
Select “local” → Enter, then “Open” → Enter to enter local storage.
Step 6: Delete Old Firmware
Open the “src” folder → Enter, then “Open” again.
Locate the existing XHC-SPJ2-(Version/Date).bin file → Enter → “Delete” → Enter to remove it.
Step 7: Load New Firmware
Navigate back → Enter to the previous screen.
Re-enter the “src” folder → Enter.

Select “Paste” → Enter to load the new firmware.
File transfer progress will briefly appear as a progress bar at the bottom of the screen.
Step 8: Reboot DSP Controller

Turn the DSP controller OFF, then back ON.
Verify that the application version and date displayed on the loading screen match the update file.
Step 9: Power Off and Verify
Turn the DSP controller and control box OFF.
Proceed to the Test Run section (Page 26 of the manual) to confirm successful installation and verify system integrity.
