The G0853 sliding table saw's motorized rip fence can be reset by registering front and rear limit switches if it moves incorrectly. It stores 40 preset cutting lengths for quick settings. Check for blockages or power cycles if measurements are off; technician help may be needed for sensor or wiring issues. Adjustments for fence play require expert support. Calibration aligns display with actual cuts. Contact technical support for unresponsive fences, errors, or unusual noises.
The G0853 sliding table saw includes a motorized rip fence that allows you to set cutting dimensions accurately and quickly. If the fence is not moving as expected or the display shows incorrect measurements, try the steps below to get it working again.
1. Motorized Rip Fence Won’t Move Correctly
Symptoms
- Fence only moves toward smaller dimensions when the START button is held
- Fence stops before reaching the programmed position
- Fence will not travel forward or backward consistently
Possible Cause
The rip fence may need a factory reset after:
- Delivery of a new machine
- A recent power outage
- A disruption to the fence’s internal memory
How to Reset the Motorized Rip Fence
- Make sure the saw is powered ON and the emergency stop is released.
- Place a washer or similar object against the fence so it can register the limit switches.
- Press and hold the Brake Release button and push the fence forward until it touches the front limit switch.
- Press and hold the Brake Release button again and pull the fence back until it touches the rear limit switch.
Once both switches register, the fence re‑establishes its travel range and should operate normally again.
2. How to Save and Use Rip Fence Programs
The G0853 can store up to 40 preset cutting lengths. This lets you quickly return to commonly used settings.
To Create or Edit a Program
- Press the PROG key.
- Use the function keys to scroll or edit:
- F1 – Return to main screen
- F2 – Scroll up
- F3 – Scroll down
- F4 – Edit program
- F5 – Search programs
- Press F4 to enter or modify the length.
- Enter your measurement and press F5 to save.
- When the START light turns on, press START to move the fence to the new setting.
To Load a Saved Program
- Press the PROG key.
- Press F5, enter the program number, and press F1.
- When the START light turns on, press ENTER to move the fence.
3. Display Shows Negative or Incorrect Measurements
Customer‑Safe Checks
Before contacting support, check the following:
- Make sure the fence is fully pushed against the front or rear reference points during startup.
- Ensure nothing is blocking the fence rails or interfering with the encoder track.
- Power the machine OFF, wait 10 seconds, then power it back ON to reinitialize the measurement system.
If negative values or inconsistent readings continue, there may be an issue with:
- A proximity sensor
- The encoder
- Internal wiring or board components
These require technician assistance. Please contact us for support.
4. Fence Feels Loose, Has Play, or Hesitates
The fence mechanism may need minor adjustments if you notice:
- Side‑to‑side play
- Jerky or inconsistent movement
- Movement lag before the fence begins to travel
Customer‑Safe Adjustment: Leadscrew Backlash Check
You may perform this simple check:
- With the saw powered OFF, gently push the fence forward and backward.
- If there is noticeable lag before the fence engages the leadscrew, the backlash may need adjustment.
Do not attempt internal mechanical adjustments yourself, as incorrect adjustments can damage the leadscrew or bearings. Contact our Technical Support team for guidance.
5. Digital Display Calibration
If the fence does not match the measurement shown on the digital display:
- Cut a test piece at a known dimension.
- Measure the piece with an accurate tool (e.g., calipers).
- If the measurement does not match the display:
- Press and hold the Calibration key for 3 seconds
- Enter the correct measurement
- Press and hold Calibration again to save
This updates the system so the displayed value matches the actual cut length.
6. When to Contact Technical Support
Please reach out if:
- The fence stops responding
- The display shows negative numbers or doesn’t register movement
- The fence makes unusual noises
- Reset procedures do not restore normal operation
- You suspect an electrical issue
Some components, such as PCB boards, proximity sensors, fuses, and wiring, must be inspected by a qualified technician.
