Grizzly sponsors the annual Grizzly Makers Challenge, hosting one woodworking and one metalworking contest yearly. Voting occurs during and one week after the contest, requiring email and consent. The top ten projects, chosen by popular vote, are judged on complexity, craftsmanship, design, and finish by experts. Entries can't be edited post-submission, and the contest is US-only. Detailed rules are on individual contest pages.

Frequently Asked Questions about Grizzly Makers Challenge
General Contest Info
When do contests run?
Grizzly will host one woodworking contest and one metalworking contest each year. The best way to know when each contest begins is to follow us on social media or join our mailing list. We will also keep our contest hub page up to date with the latest info.
I work with both metal and wood. Which contest should I enter?
Multimedia pieces can be entered in both contests, but if they reach the top ten, they will be judged based on the project's woodworking if they entered wood, and metalworking if they entered metal. For instance, a knife with a wooden handle submitted to the metalworking contest would be judged for its blade, but the same knife submitted to the woodworking contest would be judged by its handle.
Voting & Judging
When is the voting period?
Voting is available throughout the entire contest and one week after it closes! Voters must enter their email, consent to receive marketing emails (from which they can unsubscribe at any time) and pass a captcha test to vote.
How does voting help me get closer to winning the project?
Popular vote will determine the top ten projects, so be sure to share your entry with friends and family. These ten projects will then be judged by our panel of expert metalworkers who will choose the winner and runner-up. Your votes do not guarantee a specific prize; they can only get you in front of the panel of judges.
How can I get more votes?
Check your link in the submission confirmation email and share it with friends, family and fellow makers! You can do this via social media, email, and by copying and sending the direct link!
How will projects be judged?
The top ten projects will be evaluated by our expert panel of judges, which varies by contest. The qualities they rate the project on consist of:
- Complexity and skill level
- Craftsmanship and joinery/welding quality (depending on if the contest is for wood or metal)
- Design and creativity
- Finish and surface treatment
Other common questions
How can I find a specific entry?
The easiest way to find a specific entry is to use a direct link to it. The confirmation email you receive after submitting will contain a direct link. This can help friends and family find your entry quickly, without scrolling through the gallery (which appears in random order for fairness).
Can I edit my entry or change the order of my photos?
Unfortunately you cannot edit your entry after submission. If there is a notable problem or concern with your entry, our customer service team is happy to help.
Why can't I see or vote on the contest content?
The contest is geofenced to only appear in the US. If you are not in the US, or if you're using a private browser or incognito mode (which can hide your location), you may not be able to see the contest. The first thing to try is a new browser. If that does not work, our customer service team is happy to help troubleshoot further.
Detailed contest rules
Detailed contest rules vary per contest. They are available on individual contest entry and gallery pages.
