Important Disclaimer
This article references a model that is no longer in production. Please note that the availability of replacement parts or discussed accessories is not guaranteed.
⚠️ Important: This information applies to the T32459 only and should not be referenced for the T32459Z. Please see HERE for that model.
What are the electrical requirements?
The T32459 operates on 110V, single-phase, 60 Hz power. Full-load current is 7.8A, and a 15A circuit is recommended. A 72-inch, 16 AWG power cord with a 5-15 plug is included.
Is the motor AC or DC?
The sander/grinder has a brushless DC motor with an internal circuit board to control speed.
What is the motor size and speed range?
The machine uses a 3/4 HP motor with a variable speed range of 100–3200 RPM.
Is the motor reversible?
No. The motor on the T32459 is not reversible.
Can the T32459 be upgraded to a T32459Z?
Yes. You must purchase both PT32459Z014 Motor and PT32459Z017 Control Box. They must be replaced together; a T32459 controller will not run a T32459Z motor and vice versa.
What type of sanding belt does the T32459 use?
The machine uses a 2" x 42" belt. A 120-grit silicon carbide belt is included.
Can I use a different size belt?
The machine is designed for 2" x 42" belts. Using a 48" belt is not recommended; the adjustment arm would extend near its limit, and performance is uncertain. Smaller belts (like 1") are not supported.
Are there other sanding belts available?
Yes, additional belts include:
T33775 – 220 grit
T33776 – 400 grit
T33777 – 600 grit
Can the wheel in the back be used for hollow grinds?
No. Using the back roller for hollow grinding is not recommended because debris may be directed toward the operator.
What type of cutterhead or platen does it have?
Graphite-coated platen: 5-1/2" x 2-1/4"
Platen tilts 30° left/right on frame
Tool rest adjusts for vertical and horizontal grinding
Can I remove the pulley wheel guards or use the wheels as a sanding surface?
No. The guards are necessary for safety. Removing them may cause the belt to lose traction and create hazards.
What are the wheel sizes and construction?
Drive wheel: 5" diameter x 2" wide
Idler wheel: 1-1/2" diameter x 2" wide
Wheels have ball bearings and a slight crown
What is the base size?
The steel base measures 14" x 9.5".
Can this machine be mounted on the ceiling or run upside down?
No. The machine is not designed to operate inverted.
Can I use water misting for cooling?
No. Electrical components are not enclosed. Dipping workpieces is recommended instead.
Is there a duty cycle?
No designated duty cycle is provided.
What is the noise level?
The machine does not have a specific sound rating. Noise varies depending on material and belt grit.
Are there attachments or accessory options?
The machine includes a 2" x 42" belt only.
No additional contact wheels or attachments are currently available.
The platen (PT32459037) is necessary for operation and cannot be replaced with other attachments.
Can the T32459 take 2x48 belts?
No. It is designed exclusively for 2" x 42" belts.
Are there stands available?
Yes. Optional stands, such as T33204 with a 300 lb capacity, are compatible.
What is the assembly and setup time?
The machine is mostly assembled. Setup takes approximately 15 minutes.
Where is the T32459 manufactured?
China
