How to Submit Your Tax-Exempt Certificate
Exemption certificates must be submitted in our tax portal. The portal will guide you through the process of filling out the form to ensure you provide the correct documentation the first time. If you prefer, you'll also have the option of uploading your existing form to our portal.

You'll receive an email from our portal when it's time to renew your documentation. You'll need to follow the instructions in the renewal email to provide your new forms.

Once submitted, your certificate will be reviewed for accuracy. If any corrections are needed, we’ll contact you by email.

Check the box labeled “My order is Tax Exempt.” You only need to do this once per shipping address.

Upload your exemption documentation when prompted. A box will appear for you to submit your certificate.
- 👉Be sure to complete this during checkout — if you skip this step, your order may be processed with sales tax applied.
- Approval timelines: Approval may take 1–2 business days, but is often completed within a few hours.
- Before approval: Sales tax may still appear at checkout. This is normal and does not prevent your order from being submitted.

After approval: Tax will no longer appear as long as you are logged in with the same email address and using the same shipping address associated with your approved certificate.

If your exemption is approved after you placed an order:
- Your exemption will be reflected on your final invoice.
- Typically, no refund is due, because the exemption is applied before your card is actually charged.

Non-Resident Exemptions in Washington
Effective July 1, 2019:
Non-residents are no longer exempt from Washington sales tax when purchasing from our Bellingham showroom.
Sales tax will be charged at the time of purchase.
You may submit a refund request for the state portion (6.5%) of the sales tax directly to the Washington State Department of Revenue.
Refund Requirements:
Minimum of $25.00 in state sales tax paid
Limit of one refund request per person per calendar year

I already placed my order but didn't provide paperwork. How do I get a refund?
If you’ve already placed an order and would like to apply a tax exemption, please submit your exemption paperwork as soon as possible.
Each state has different deadlines for when sales tax must be remitted. If too much time passes, we may no longer be able to refund the tax because it will have already been submitted to your state. In that case, you would need to request the refund directly from your state tax authority.
How long does it take to get a refund on sales tax?
Once your paperwork is reviewed and approved, we’ll process your refund within two weeks.
Refunds are usually issued to the original payment method used on your order.
If you paid by cash, check, or bank wire transfer, we’ll send you a refund check by mail.
