What power does the G1033 require?
The planer runs on 220V, single-phase, 60 Hz power. It has a full-load current rating of 18A and requires a 20A minimum circuit. It comes with a 10-ft, 12 AWG power cord and a NEMA 6-20 plug installed.
How much horsepower does the motor have?
The G1033 is equipped with a 3 HP TEFC capacitor-start induction motor operating at 3450 RPM. Power is transferred through a triple V-belt drive system.
Can I run moulding knives in my G1033 Planer?
No. The G1033 is not designed for moulding knives. There isn’t enough clearance around the cutterhead, nor sufficient adjustment in the infeed roller, to accommodate them.
What type of oil should I use in the gearbox?
Use 90-weight gear oil. For unheated winter workshops, switch to 50-weight motor oil, then change back to 90-weight in the summer.
What type of feed rollers does it have?
Infeed roller: Solid steel with spiral serrations
Outfeed roller: Solid smooth steel
Is there a larger motor available for the G1033?
Yes. You can upgrade to the G5015 – 5 HP motor if more power is required.
What size breaker do I need to operate this planer?
You will need a 30A circuit breaker.
Where can I get a reducer to go from the 5" dust port to a 4" hose?
We recommend using a 5" hose from the planer to your dust collector for best performance. If you need to connect to a 4" inlet, you can use a 5" to 4" stovepipe reducer, available at most hardware stores.
What are the CFM requirements for a dust collector?
Requirements vary based on hose length, wood moisture content, and depth of cut. Within 10 feet, a dust collector rated at 450 CFM may suffice, but for best performance, choose a larger-capacity unit.
What is the maximum cut width and depth?
Maximum cut width: 20″
Maximum depth of cut (full width): 3/32″
Maximum depth of cut (6″ wide board): 1/8″
How fast does the cutterhead spin?
The cutterhead spins at 5000 RPM, producing up to 20,000 cuts per minute.
How many knives does the cutterhead have and what size are they?
The G1033 uses a 4-knife cutterhead with 20″ HSS, single-sided solid knives. Each knife measures 20″ × 1″ × 1/8″.
How many feed rates does this planer have?
The planer has two feed rates: 16 FPM and 28 FPM.
How large is the planer bed and extension tables?
Bed size: 58″ L × 25-3/4″ W × 2-1/2″ thick cast iron
Roller extension tables: 16″ L × 22″ W × 1-1/4″ thick
The floor-to-table height adjusts from 22-1/2″ to 31″.
Does the G1033 have a dust port?
Yes. The machine has a single 5″ dust port.
Where is the G1033 manufactured?
This planer is manufactured in Taiwan in an ISO 9001-certified factory. It is also certified by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL).
