- Can I replace the factory bag with a plastic garbage bag?
A plastic garbage bag may ease dust disposal, but it will also reduce the effective filter area. This will in turn reduce the cubic feet per minute air flow and therefore, is not recommended. - What micron size bags come on the machine?
30 micron. - What adapter do I need to hook this unit up to my 2" shop vac hoses?
Dust collectors work differently than vacuum cleaners and should not be reduced down at the dust collector. If you reduce the intake side of the dust collector, you will be reducing the CFM capacity and efficiency of the dust collector. However, reducing hose size at the end of long dust collecting ducts may be necessary to increase velocity to carry dust in suspension. Grizzly carries standard hose reducers for this purpose. - How many different machines can I hook up to this unit?
This dust collector is rated at 1550 CFM which will handle three average machines like a 10" table saw, 6" jointer and combination sander. Blast gates are necessary to zone off different machines if collecting from a planer. Try and keep hose lengths as short as possible to maintain the overall efficiency of the dust collector. - What is the impeller made of?
Steel - What is the best way to install a ground wire on my system?
It's best to have a bare copper wire running through the inside of the hose, connecting one end to the dust collector and the other end to the machine being used. Good ground connections should be made to the body of both machines. You should also have an external wire spiraled around the outside of the hose every 6 to 8 inches and grounded to the machine bodies. Please refer to G2525 Dust Collection Basics Handbook for more information. - I will be blowing the dust and chips outside into a hopper so I won't be needing the bags or the funnel shaped collector. Can I purchase the machine with those items?
No. The machine is only sold as a complete unit. - Can I use the dust collector to exhaust smoke and fine floating dust from my shop?
No. The capture area at the end of the hose is very limited. That's why a dust hood is very important for each machine. - ls air flow restricted if I put a smaller micron bag on the dust collector?
Very little if any. Even though the smaller micron bags have smaller openings, there are more of them per square inch.
