Can I replace the factory bag with a plastic garbage bag? While a plastic garbage bag might make dust disposal easier, it will reduce the effective filter area. This, in turn, will decrease the cubic feet per minute (CFM) airflow and is therefore not recommended.
What micron bags come on the machine? 30 micron.
What adapter do I need to hook this unit up to my 2" shop vac hoses? Dust collectors function differently from vacuum cleaners and should not have their intake reduced. Reducing the intake side of the dust collector will decrease its CFM capacity and efficiency. However, reducing the hose size at the end of long dust collection ducts might be necessary to increase velocity to keep dust suspended. Grizzly carries standard hose reducers for this purpose.
How many different machines can I hook up to this unit? This dust collector is rated at 1150 CFM, which can handle two average machines like a 10" table saw and a 6" jointer, or one heavy chip-producing machine like a planer. Blast gates are necessary to isolate different machines when collecting from a planer. Try to keep hose lengths as short as possible to maintain the overall efficiency of the dust collector. This dust collector is not designed to handle the dust produced by drum sanders.
What is the impeller made of? Steel.
What is the best way to install a ground wire on my system? The best practice is to run a bare copper wire through the inside of the hose, connecting one end to the dust collector and the other end to the machine being used. Ensure good ground connections are made to the body of both machines. Additionally, you should have an external wire spiraled around the outside of the hose every 6 to 8 inches and grounded to the machine bodies. Please refer to the G2525 Dust Collection Basics Handbook for more detailed information.
I will be blowing the dust and chips outside into a hopper, so I won't be needing the bags or the funnel-shaped collector. Can I purchase the machine without those items? No, the machine is only sold as a complete unit.
Can I use the dust collector to exhaust smoke and fine floating dust from my shop? No, the capture area at the end of the hose is very limited. That's why a dust hood is very important for each machine.
Is the airflow restricted if I put a smaller micron bag on the dust collector? Very little, if at all. Even though smaller micron bags have smaller openings, they also have a higher density of openings per square inch.
How are the hoses attached to the G3376 Cyclone Separator? The separator lid is designed so that the hoses slide directly into it. No additional fittings are necessary.
