Can I replace the factory bag with a plastic garbage bag?
While using a plastic garbage bag might make dust disposal easier, it reduces the effective filter area, which decreases airflow (CFM) and reduces overall efficiency. This is not recommended.
What micron bags come with the machine?
The G1028 comes with 30-micron fabric bags.
What adapter do I need to hook this unit up to 2" shop vac hoses?
Dust collectors function differently than vacuum cleaners. Reducing the intake diameter at the dust collector itself is not recommended, as it decreases CFM and collection efficiency. However, you may reduce hose size at the end of long ducts to increase velocity and keep dust suspended. Grizzly carries standard hose reducers for this purpose.
How many machines can I hook up to this unit?
The G1028 is rated at 610 CFM, suitable for:
One heavy chip-producing machine (e.g., planer)
Two average machines (e.g., 10" table saw + 6" jointer)
Blast gates are recommended to isolate different machines. Keep hose lengths as short as possible to maintain optimal efficiency. This dust collector is not designed to handle drum sanders.
What is the impeller made of?
The impeller is steel with a radial fin design and a 3/32" thick blade riveted for durability.
What is the best way to install a ground wire?
Run a bare copper wire inside the hose, connecting one end to the dust collector and the other to the machine being used.
Ensure solid connections to both machine bodies.
Spiral an external wire around the hose every 6–8 inches and ground it to both machines.
Refer to the G2525 Dust Collection Basics Handbook for detailed instructions.
Can I purchase the machine without the bags or funnel-shaped collector if I plan to blow dust outside?
No. The G1028 is sold as a complete unit only.
Can I use the dust collector to exhaust smoke or fine floating dust?
No. The capture area at the hose end is limited, so a dust hood is essential for each machine to collect dust effectively at the source.
Is airflow restricted if I use a smaller micron bag?
Very little, if at all. Smaller micron bags have smaller openings but higher density per square inch, which allows airflow to remain nearly unchanged.
How are the hoses attached to the G3376 Cyclone Separator?
Hoses slide directly into the separator lid. No additional fittings are needed.
