1. What are the power requirements for the G1258 Bandsaw?
The G1258 is powered by a 3 HP TEFC capacitor-start induction motor. It requires 220V, single-phase, 60 Hz power and draws 15 amps. A magnetic switch with thermal overload protection is included for added safety.
2. What is the cutting capacity of this bandsaw?
- Cutting width (throat capacity): 20"
- Maximum cutting height (resaw height): 14"
- Table tilt: 10° left, 45° right
This provides excellent flexibility for straight and angled cuts.
3. What size blades does the G1258 use?
- Blade length: 154-1/2"
- Blade width range: 3/16" – 1-1/4"
- Blade speed: 3500 FPM
4. What is the table size and working height?
- Table size: 20" W x 24" D x 1-5/8" thick
- Floor-to-table height: 35-1/4"
- Overall machine height: 75"
The table is precision-ground cast iron for stability and accuracy.
5. How much space does the G1258 require?
- Footprint: 31" x 19-1/4"
- Overall width: 38-1/2"
- Overall depth (including fence): 27-3/4"
- Shipping crate: 36" L x 25" W x 82" H
- Shipping weight: 613 lbs.
- Assembled weight: 514 lbs.
6. What materials are used in the construction?
- Table: Precision-ground cast iron
- Upper wheel: Fully balanced cast aluminum with rubber tires
- Lower wheel: Fully balanced cast iron with rubber tires
- Rip fence: Cast iron
- Wheel covers: Pre-formed steel
- Guides: All ball-bearing
This combination ensures stability, durability, and smooth operation.
7. What features are included with the G1258?
- Micro-adjustable ball bearing blade guides
- Cast iron fence for straight, accurate ripping
- Miter gauge for angled cuts
- 4" dust port for efficient dust collection
- Foot brake for added safety
- Rack-and-pinion upper guide adjustment for precision
8. Why does this machine have a cast-iron lower wheel and an aluminum upper wheel?
This design provides a balance between inertia and starting load. The heavy cast iron lower wheel adds momentum for smooth cutting, while the lighter aluminum upper wheel reduces the starting amp load. Both wheels are fully balanced with rubber tires.
9. Can this machine be wired for 110V?
No. The motor and switch are 220V only.
10. Why are the upper and lower blade guides different?
Due to space restrictions and ease of adjustment, European-style roller guides are used under the table.
11. Can I use this bandsaw for resawing?
Yes, but only to a limited degree. Resawing performance depends on motor size, blade style, type of wood, and maximum cutting height. This is not a dedicated resaw machine.
12. Is an extension block kit available for this machine?
No. The G1258 has a one-piece formed steel body, so an extension block cannot be added.
