- What type of bandsaw wheels does this machine have?
Cast iron wheels with rubber tires. - I have seen all the ads and awards for this machine. What makes this saw better than the 18" bandsaws you sell?
The overall size and weight of the body of the saw makes it solid and stable and the inertia created by the weight of the cast iron wheels helps with heavy cutting. The G1073 also has micro adjustable blade guides and a table saw style rip fence. - Can this machine be wired for 110V?
Yes - ls the slow speed for metal cutting?
No. To cut metal, the blade speed generally needs to be 250 feet per minute and slower depending on the metal. The blade speeds on the G1073 are 2,275, 2720, and 3,265 FPM. - Can I put a bigger motor on this machine?
Yes. The motor mount fits a standard NEMA 56 motor frame and the motor pulley has a standard 5/8" bore. Grizzly carries a full selection of optional motors. - Can I order this machine without the motor?
No. The labor cost for us to remove the stock motor would offset any savings realized if you were able to buy this machine without the motor. We suggest you privately sell the stock motor if you want to change the motor. - What's the difference between the skip, hook and raker toothed blades?
Skip tooth blades have widely spaced teeth to prevent clogging. This is good for straight cuts like ripping. Hook tooth blades have 10" rake angle which causes the blade to cut more aggressively. This type of blade cleans out fast and is best for resawing. Raker tooth blades have teeth that are offset to the left and right. This blade is best for cutting circles and contours. - Will I be able to find blades locally?
We recommend you check your local saw sharpening service. If they do not have it hanging on the wall, most will special order one.
