General Information
What materials can the G0561 cut?
The G0561 is designed to cut both ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including steel, aluminum, and brass. It can handle workpieces up to 7" round or 7" x 12" rectangular in the horizontal position.
Can this saw operate in both horizontal and vertical positions?
Yes. The G0561 can be used in either horizontal or vertical positions. It includes the necessary table and bracket for vertical cutting, as outlined in the manual (see page 36).
Does this saw come with the stand shown in the photos?
Yes. Everything shown in the product photo—including the stand—is included with your purchase.
Can the saw be removed from the stand for bench use?
Yes, the saw can be removed from the stand. However, doing so will disable the coolant system since the tank and plumbing are built into the base. If you plan to use it without the stand, contact Product Support for setup guidance.
Electrical and Power Requirements
What type of power does the G0561 require?
This machine can operate on either 115V or 230V, single-phase, 60 Hz power. It comes prewired for 115V but can be converted to 230V if desired.
What size circuit is recommended?
A 15-amp circuit is recommended for both 115V and 230V configurations.
What type of plug is included?
The saw comes with a 5-15 plug for 115V operation. For 230V, we recommend replacing it with a 6-15 plug.
Does it come ready to plug in?
Yes. The machine includes a power cord and plug for immediate use on 115V.
Cutting Performance and Adjustments
What are the available blade speeds?
The G0561 offers four blade speeds: 90, 135, 195, and 255 feet per minute (FPM). Adjustments are made by repositioning the V-belt on the pulleys.
How can I adjust the feed rate?
The hydraulic feed control allows you to adjust the feed rate and pressure. For best results, observe the chips coming from the cut—tight, curly chips indicate proper feed, while powdery chips suggest a need for increased feed rate.
What is the maximum cutting capacity?
At 90°, the saw can cut up to 7" round or 7" x 12" rectangular stock. At 45°, it can cut up to 5" round or 4-3/4" x 4-1/2" rectangular.
Can it perform angle cuts?
Yes. The quick-release vise can be adjusted for angle cuts between 0° and 45°.
Coolant System
Does the saw include a coolant system?
Yes. The G0561 includes a full coolant system with a 2.5-gallon capacity tank, pump, and chip screen to keep debris out of the reservoir.
What type of coolant should I use?
We recommend Grizzly H9240 Soluble Oil, which can be mixed to produce between 20 and 30 gallons of coolant depending on your preferred dilution ratio.
Is coolant included with the saw?
No, coolant is not included with the saw.
Can I use pipe cutting oil instead?
No. The coolant system is designed for water-soluble oils only. Using pipe cutting oil or other non-soluble lubricants may damage the pump and reduce blade life.
How much coolant does the tank hold?
The coolant tank holds approximately 2.5 gallons of cutting fluid.
Blade and Maintenance
What size blade does this saw use?
This saw uses a 93" long by 3/4" wide blade.
What type of blades can I use?
You can use bi-metal or carbon steel blades designed for metal cutting. Blade selection should be based on the material type and thickness being cut.
How do I change blade speed?
Blade speed is changed by moving the drive belt between the different pulley positions on the motor and wheel pulleys.
How often should I replace the coolant?
Replace or refresh the coolant regularly based on usage. Heavy cutting or contamination with chips will require more frequent changes.
Setup and Operation
How long does setup take?
Initial setup typically takes about 30 minutes, including unpacking, mounting, and checking alignment.
Does it come fully assembled?
The saw is mostly assembled but requires installation of the stand, vise handle, and some minor components.
Is a table included for vertical cutting?
Yes. A small cast-iron table and support bracket are included to convert the saw for vertical cutting operations.
