General Information
What is the difference between the G0944 and the G0944HEP?
Both models share the same design and performance specifications. The difference is in filtration — the G0944 uses a standard 1-micron filter, while the G0944HEP features a MERV-17 rated HEPA filter that captures particles as small as 0.3 microns.
Is this a single- or two-stage dust collector?
These are single-stage dust collectors, meaning dust and debris pass through the impeller before entering the filter and collection bag.
What is the airflow capacity (CFM)?
The maximum airflow is 1280 CFM. In typical use with 2–3 inches of static pressure, expect around 1000–1100 CFM.
What does static pressure mean? Is it dangerous?
Static pressure is a measurement of suction resistance in the dust collection system. It’s not dangerous; it simply affects system efficiency depending on duct length and restrictions.
Can this be used for concrete or metal dust?
No. Both models are designed for wood dust only and should not be used with metal, concrete, or other non-wood materials.
What is the recommended mounting height?
The top of the dust collector should be mounted at least 88.5 inches from the floor to provide proper clearance and airflow.
Electrical and Operation
What voltage does this machine require?
Both the G0944 and G0944HEP operate exclusively on 110V single-phase power. They cannot be wired for 220V.
What is the full-load current?
The full-load current draw is approximately 13 amps at 110V. A 15-amp dedicated circuit is recommended.
Can I operate the unit with a wall switch instead of the remote?
Yes. If your outlet is controlled by a wall switch, you can power it that way. The unit also includes ON/OFF buttons on the control box.
Can I wire this into a 3-way circuit with multiple switches?
No. The internal control board resets to OFF when power is lost, so it cannot be restarted automatically through external switches. You must use the remote or onboard power buttons.
How does the remote control work?
The remote operates via RF (radio frequency) and functions up to 75 feet away in most environments. Keep in mind that metal walls or barriers may interfere with the signal.
Can I mount the collector outside and still use the remote?
Possibly, though the signal range may be reduced by walls or other obstacles.
I lost my remote. How can I get a replacement?
You can order a replacement remote from the “Buy Parts” link on the product page. Search for P0944005 Remote Controller.
Filtration and Maintenance
What type of filter does the G0944 use?
The G0944 includes a 1-micron pleated canister filter that captures fine wood dust efficiently.
What type of filter does the G0944HEP use?
The G0944HEP includes a HEPA filter rated at MERV-17, which captures 99.97% of particles down to 0.3 microns in size.
Can I upgrade the G0944 to use a HEPA filter?
No. The HEPA filter assembly is specific to the G0944HEP model.
How long does the filter last?
Filter life depends on usage, wood type, and moisture content. With regular cleaning and dry operation, filters typically last several years before replacement is needed.
Can the HEPA canister filter be cleaned with compressed air?
Do not use water or high-pressure air. The recommended cleaning method is to regularly operate the internal flapper handle to knock dust from the pleats into the collection bag.
Can the standard 1-micron filter be washed or pressure cleaned?
No. The filter should not be washed or pressure cleaned. Use the internal flapper to maintain efficiency.
How often should the filter be cleaned?
Use the flapper handle periodically—typically after every few hours of use—to maintain consistent suction performance.
Ducting and Hose Compatibility
What size inlet does this dust collector use?
The main inlet is 6 inches in diameter, and it includes a Y-adapter with two 4-inch inlets for flexible connection options.
Can I use 4" hoses with this unit?
Yes. The Y-adapter is designed for two 4-inch hoses, allowing you to connect to two tools at once.
Can I remove the Y-adapter and use a single 6" hose?
Yes. For the best airflow, removing the Y-adapter and using a 6" hose directly is recommended, especially when connecting to a separator or a single tool.
Can I hard-pipe this system with long ducting runs?
Yes, but be aware that longer runs, smaller diameters, or tight bends reduce overall CFM. For optimal design guidance, refer to our book Dust Collection Basics (W1050).
Will this work with a Oneida Super Dust Deputy separator?
The G0944’s 1280 CFM rating may meet the airflow requirements for small separators, but compatibility depends on Oneida’s specific recommendations. Please consult Oneida for confirmation.
Can I vent the system directly outside?
This is not recommended. Venting outside can create environmental and health concerns and will reduce system efficiency.
Accessories and Replacement Parts
Are larger collection bags available?
No. The recommended bag size for both models is 14.5” x 23”, which provides the best fit and seal.
How do I purchase a replacement remote or other parts?
Replacement parts, including remotes and filters, can be ordered directly from the product page by selecting “Buy Parts”.
Can I add a secondary remote for use in different areas of my shop?
Multiple remotes have not been tested for compatibility. For reliability, we recommend using a single remote.
Can I get replacement cords, filters, or bags?
Yes. All replacement components can be ordered through the Buy Parts section on the product page.
Performance and Usage
Is the filter MERV-rated?
The G0944 standard filter is not MERV-rated. The G0944HEP features a MERV-17 rated HEPA filter for higher filtration efficiency.
How does this compare to larger two-stage systems?
These wall-mount units are compact single-stage collectors best suited for small to medium woodworking shops. For higher airflow or multi-machine systems, a cyclone-style collector is recommended.
Is the 1280 CFM rating realistic in a shop setup?
The 1280 CFM is measured at the inlet. Actual airflow depends on hose length, bends, and system design. In a typical setup with a short 4” hose, expect around 1000–1100 CFM.
Can I use these with a 20-foot run of ducting?
Yes, but airflow will decrease as distance and resistance increase. Keeping runs as short and straight as possible will maximize suction.
How loud is this unit?
The operating sound level is approximately 80–85 dB, similar to a typical shop vacuum.
Warranty and Support
What warranty do these models include?
Both models include a 1-year warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship.
Where can I find the serial number?
The serial number is located on the machine’s ID label near the power junction box.
